Fitzgerald City Cemetery is a historic African American burial ground on West Benjamin H. Hill Drive that was known simply as the City Cemetery back in the early 1900s. Many of its graves survive only as shallow depressions in the ground rather than lettered headstones, and these were later marked with plain white crosses. Long lost under ten-foot trees and underbrush, the site was cleared and restored through a local Eagle Scout service project.
