The Story
Walters Cemetery, also known as the Coley-White family burying ground, lies along Georgia Highway 26 near Montrose on the eastern edge of Bleckley County. It sits directly across the road from the former site of the Cain Coley House, home of Alcanah Robert "Cain" Coley and part of the old Whitehall Plantation, later renamed Saje Winds. That plantation dwelling was destroyed by a lightning-sparked fire in September 2014, leaving this small family plot of about twenty recorded graves as one of the last surviving traces of the property.
