The Story
Old Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church and its cemetery date to 1844, when the congregation was organized with both white and Black members, several of its founders drawn from the Cone family. Not long after its founding, a doctrinal rift gave rise to the separate Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church. By 1867 the membership was almost evenly divided between the two races, and in 1883 the Black members withdrew to form their own congregation, nearby Friendship Baptist Church, along Highway 80 between Brooklet and Stilson.
