Coastal Heritage Society- Savannah Children's Museum

The Savannah Children's Museum is an operating division of the Coastal Heritage Society, a nonprofit founded in 1975 that also runs the Savannah History Museum, Georgia State Railroad Museum, Old Fort Jackson, and other coastal sites. Opened in 2012 within Tricentennial Park, the museum is an adaptive reuse of the lower level and upper courtyard of the old Central of Georgia Railway carpentry shop, giving it an almost entirely outdoor character. Its more than a dozen hands-on exhibits include an exploration maze, a reading nook, a sensory garden, and musical and water-play stations aimed at young children. The setting ties children's play to the surrounding 19th-century railroad complex, a National Historic Landmark district.
