The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art is a regional art museum on the downtown square in Marietta, roughly twenty miles northwest of Atlanta. Founded in 1990 by a group of local art patrons, its permanent collection concentrates on nineteenth- and twentieth-century American art, and it rotates exhibitions quarterly to feature regional artists, selections from the permanent holdings, and national traveling shows. The museum occupies a Greek Revival building erected in 1909 that served as Marietta's post office until 1963 and then as the town library until 1989. Supported by the City of Marietta, Cobb County, and the Georgia Council for the Arts, it is one of the area's principal cultural venues.
