The burial ground sits in the hills southwest of Chattanooga, historically reached by way of Lookout Mountain and the old road toward Wildwood. Surveyors of the period counted roughly 150 unmarked graves here, a sign the cemetery had already been in use for generations. It now holds more than a thousand recorded burials.
