The Story
This rural burial ground adjoins Antioch Baptist Church on Brooks Woolsey Road, in the small community of Woolsey south of Fayetteville, and contains more than six hundred graves. One of its most historically significant features is a separate section that served as the burial place for enslaved people, later restored through community effort and marked with a plaque honoring a longtime church deacon for that preservation work. The main churchyard reflects generations of the surrounding farming families.
