The Story
The Hart County Botanical Garden is a nonprofit garden in the Lavonia and Hartwell area of northeast Georgia, set on grounds beside the county athletic complex on Elberton Highway. Maintained largely by volunteers, it is organized into numerous themed spaces, among them Asian, native-plant, herb, fern, woodland, shade, meadow, rhododendron, and perennial gardens, together with a children's garden, butterfly garden, and bird sanctuary. Walking paths, a pond, and a covered pavilion and amphitheater make the garden a venue for concerts, weddings, educational workshops, and seasonal community events. It offers residents and visitors to Hart County a free public landscape for recreation and horticultural learning.
