Founders' Cemetery was Roswell's first burial ground, serving the young mill village primarily between 1840 and about 1860. It is the resting place of the town's founder, Roswell King, along with Major James Stephens Bulloch, a grandfather of President Theodore Roosevelt, and John Dunwody, builder of the antebellum home Mimosa Hall. A scarlet fever epidemic in 1841 claimed many of the community's children, a number of whom are buried here.
