Pleasant Hill Historical Cemetery is tied to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, whose Black congregation organized in the mid-1800s after growing out of the earlier Lebanon Baptist Church. Burials at the site are documented as beginning in 1855, making it one of Roswell's important African American historic burial grounds, though the earliest surviving marked grave dates to 1904. Since 2015 the Roswell Historical Society's Cemetery Committee has worked to honor the many military veterans interred here, placing memorial wreaths on veterans' graves across the city's historic cemeteries.
