This small walled plot on Jekyll Island holds the graves of the du Bignon family, whose patriarch Christophe Poulain du Bignon acquired the island in the 1790s after leaving revolutionary France. The family owned Jekyll for much of the nineteenth century, until it was sold in 1886 to become the exclusive winter retreat of the Jekyll Island Club. Only a handful of headstones remain inside the enclosure, marking one of the island's earliest family burial sites.
