Greensboro's historic municipal burial ground is now largely closed to new burials except within previously owned family plots, and the adjacent Greenview Cemetery was later opened to receive new interments. Among its roughly 2,700 recorded graves are several notable Georgians, including U.S. Senator Thomas W. Cobb, U.S. Congressman and Senator William C. Dawson, and Peter Early, a congressman who went on to serve as Governor of Georgia. Its age and prominent residents make it one of Greene County's most significant cemeteries.
