Born in Lawrenceville in 1921, Ezzard Charles rose from these Georgia roots to dethrone Joe Louis in 1950 and reign as world heavyweight champion; the elegant 'Cincinnati Cobra' is now enshrined in the Boxing Hall of Fame.
