Norcross History Center

The Norcross History Center preserves and interprets the story of Norcross, one of Gwinnett County's oldest railroad towns. The city was founded in 1870 by railroad builder and entrepreneur John J. Thrasher, who purchased the surrounding acreage and named the settlement for his friend Jonathan Norcross, a former Atlanta mayor; the Georgia General Assembly chartered the town on October 26, 1870. The center gathers photographs, documents, and artifacts that trace the community's growth as a rail depot and later a resort stop for Atlantans seeking cleaner air.
