The Story

Launched August 18, 1864, Gen. Kilpatrick's 4,500 Union cavalrymen wrecked the railroad feeding Atlanta. Surrounded near Nash Farm, they broke free in a dramatic saber charge straight over Ross's Texans before escaping to Sherman's lines.
