The Story
Covington's historic municipal burying ground, recorded on Find a Grave as Southview Cemetery and also known as the New Covington Cemetery, holds more than 4,500 graves near Davis and Elm streets in the old part of town. Among those interred here are Confederate States Congressman William White Clark (1819-1883) and Confederate Brigadier General James Phillip Simms (1837-1887), along with 20th-century NFL player Richard 'Rick' Arrington. An older 19th-century section and an adjacent Confederate burial area are part of the grounds.
