GeorgiaThe Story
Born enslaved in 1858, Walker studied at the Augusta Institute and in 1885 founded Tabernacle Baptist. A renowned orator dubbed 'the Black Spurgeon,' he later started Harlem's first Black YMCA and hosted Booker T. Washington in Augusta.
