John McIntosh Kell (2001)

Griffin resident John McIntosh Kell (1823-1900) served as executive officer to Raphael Semmes aboard the Confederate raiders CSS Sumter and CSS Alabama, surviving the Alabama's 1864 sinking and later serving as Georgia's adjutant general.
