Bird's Mill and Worthens' Gap

Philemon Bird built a mill on West Chickamauga Creek in the 1840s, feeding water through a long hand-dug race. Worthens' Gap was one of the Pigeon Mountain passes Federal columns sought during the 1863 campaign.
