The Story
This churchyard alongside Ramah Baptist Church, off Highway 57 near Gordon, has grown into one of the largest burial grounds in Wilkinson County, with well over a thousand recorded interments. Its most noted resident is Gordon native James Arthur "Jim" Williams (1930–1990), the Savannah antiques dealer and house restorer whose murder trials became the basis for the book and film "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil"; he was brought back to his hometown for burial here. The grounds remain tied to the still-active Ramah Baptist congregation.
