The Tour
Life University, the world's largest single-campus chiropractic college, sits tucked into 110 wooded acres northwest of Atlanta, complete with a lake, LEED-certified green buildings, and more than three miles of forest trails along Rottenwood Creek. This walk pairs the university's sustainability showpieces with its athletic pride, a rugby program that is a genuine national dynasty, and a recreated 19th-century village hidden in the woods.
Life University Campus Tour is a self-guided walking tour of Marietta, built around its campus side. It's one of 3 Georgia Roam tours in Marietta — each a different route through the city, on your own schedule.
The walk covers 4 stops over about 1.1 miles and roughly 1 hour 15 min, entirely at your own pace. Each stop's story unlocks on your phone the moment you arrive — GPS-triggered, hands-free, no guide and no tour group to keep up with.
What you'll see
Life University's campus feels more like a nature preserve than a college, and this walk shows off both its green side and its sporting pride. The 110 acres are wooded and threaded with trails. At the center is a fishing pond with the Bell Tower rising above it. The university's commitment to sustainability shows in buildings like the Socrates Cafe, a LEED Gold dining commons that opened in 2010.
You'll stop at the library named for founder Sid E. Williams and his wife Nell, both chiropractors, whose fundraising made the college possible in the 1970s. You'll also visit Lupo Family Field, home of the Running Eagles rugby teams. The women's side won three national championships in the 2025–26 season. The walk ends in the woods, where trails follow Rottenwood Creek past a recreated 19th-century village with a working grist mill turned by the creek.
The route is about 1.1 miles and takes roughly 75 minutes. Sturdy shoes help on the trail section, and fall and spring are the most comfortable seasons. If you'd like to catch a rugby match, check the Running Eagles schedule first. The Georgia Roam app tells each stop's story as you arrive.
