Toccoa is where paratroopers of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, including Easy Company, later made famous by Band of Brothers, trained in 1942. This drive begins at the depot museum, goes straight to the old camp and the base of Currahee Mountain, and then turns to three optional extras nearby: a 186-foot waterfall, an Olympic weightlifting champion's park and an 1815 inn. Several of these places keep limited days: Traveler's Rest is a weekend-only stop, and the Camp Toccoa site is open only certain hours, so check before you go. The time estimate does not include hiking Currahee.
Toccoa: Currahee & the Band of Brothers is a self-guided driving tour of Toccoa, built around its military side.
The walk covers 6 stops over about 23.5 miles and roughly 3 hours 35 min, entirely at your own pace. Each stop's story unlocks on your phone the moment you arrive — GPS-triggered, hands-free, no guide and no tour group to keep up with.
