Flat Creek Cemetery lies beside Flat Creek Missionary Baptist Church on Flat Creek Church Road, northeast of Nashville in rural Berrien County. The burial ground is far older than the present congregation, having served the Emmaus Primitive Baptist Church for well over a century until that church was discontinued around 1950 and the Missionary Baptist church was organized in 1952. Some of the earliest pioneer families of Wiregrass Georgia were laid to rest here as far back as the 1830s. Many of its graves are unmarked, a reminder of how deep the cemetery's roots run in the region's settlement history.
