ST Marys Submarine Museum

The St. Marys Submarine Museum, on the waterfront in historic St. Marys near Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, is devoted to the history of the U.S. Navy's submarine force. Spread across two floors and roughly 5,000 square feet, its collection is said to number nearly 20,000 items, ranging from models and torpedoes to diving suits, uniforms, command plaques, and equipment salvaged from actual submarines. A signature feature is a working periscope that lets visitors scan the St. Marys River. The museum also holds what is described as the largest collection of original World War II submarine war patrol reports outside the National Archives, and it is recognized as a stop on the Georgia World War II Heritage Trail.
