The Story
The University of West Georgia opened in 1906 as the Fourth District Agricultural & Mechanical School, one of a set of farm schools the 1906 Perry Act planted in Georgia's congressional districts. The state chose the old Bonner plantation west of Carrollton, and the school grew into West Georgia College (1933) and finally the University of West Georgia. This walk begins on Front Campus Drive among the oldest buildings on the property — a pre-Civil-War plantation house and the first A&M classroom building — and ends at the modern Coliseum that anchors the Wolves' athletic corner.

History
The University of West Georgia began in 1906 as the Fourth District Agricultural and Mechanical School, established on the former Bonner plantation in Carrollton to give rural youth a practical education. It became West Georgia College in 1933 as part of the University System of Georgia, later served as State University of West Georgia (1996), and adopted its current name in 2005. Now a public university enrolling roughly 16,000 students, it also operates a campus in Newnan and additional instructional centers around metro Atlanta.
