The Story

A Gullah-Geechee community settled in the 1890s by islanders from Ossabaw, Green, and Skidaway, sustained by oystering and crabbing around Sweetfield of Eden Baptist Church; it is the birthplace of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
