National Museum of Commercial Aviation

The National Museum of Commercial Aviation was the nation's first museum devoted specifically to the commercial airline industry, located in Forest Park, Georgia, just south of Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The idea grew from a 2003 gathering of retired airline employees and civic leaders who wanted to honor the carriers that helped make Atlanta home to the world's busiest airport, and the museum was formally founded in 2006 under executive director and curator Grant Wainscott. It opened an interim research facility, or "Air-Chive," in Forest Park in 2008, collecting airline artifacts, memorabilia, and historical records. The organization was ultimately dissolved in 2016.
