The Story
The Kolb family cemetery sits at the southern end of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, on the farmstead established by Peter Valentine Kolb, who built the surviving log farmhouse in 1836 and laid out the burial ground a few years later. The property became a focal point of the Battle of Kolb's Farm on June 22, 1864, during the Atlanta Campaign, when the house served as a headquarters for Union general Joseph Hooker. The Kolb farmhouse is the only surviving Civil War-era structure within the park.
