Marietta Aeronautical Museum and Education Center

The Marietta Aeronautical Museum and Education Center is an earlier name for what is now the Aviation History & Technology Center, an aviation museum on land adjoining Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta. Its roots lie in the B-29 Superfortress Association, formed in the 1980s to preserve aircraft tied to the adjacent Air Force Plant 6, and the organization was incorporated in 2002. In 2005, Cobb County leased about 15.5 acres from the Air Force to develop the museum, which occupies a large hangar-style facility. Visitors can walk among roughly a dozen restored military and civilian aircraft, including a C-141B StarLifter whose cargo bay is open to explore, alongside exhibits on the region's aerospace manufacturing legacy.
