Georgia Perimeter College Botanical Garden

The Georgia Perimeter College Botanical Garden, now operated by Georgia State University's Perimeter College, is a roughly four-acre garden on the Decatur campus devoted to the native flora of the Southeast. Established in 1990 by George Sanko as the DeKalb College Botanical Garden, it grew into one of the largest native-plant collections in Georgia, earning the informal title "Wildflower Center of Georgia." Its holdings include thousands of native, rare, and endangered species, from ferns and bog plants to shrubs and perennials, threaded by about three-quarters of a mile of walking trails. The garden is free and open to the public, and its fern collection has drawn recognition from pteridological societies.
