Piney Grove Cemetery is a historic African American burial ground in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood, the last surviving landmark of the Piney Grove community that traces its roots to the mid-1820s. Owned by the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, it anchored a network of Black families who settled the area in the decades after Emancipation, and its more than 300 graves include people who had been enslaved. The church building was demolished after storm damage in 1996, and the burial ground has since been pressed by highway construction and upscale residential development. Determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, the site was named to the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation's 2024 Places in Peril list.
