The Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum in Madison was, at its height, celebrated as the world's largest collection of microcars, the tiny one- and two-passenger vehicles that flourished in postwar Europe. It was founded in 1997 by Bruce Weiner, a former owner of the Dubble Bubble gum company, whose fascination began in 1991 when he bought a 1955 Messerschmitt KR200 through a Hemmings ad. Housed in a 25,000-square-foot building, the collection eventually approached 300 cars, displayed alongside vintage neon signs, advertising art, and coin-operated kiddie rides. The entire holding was sold at an RM Auctions sale in February 2013 that took in more than $9.1 million, after which the museum closed.
