Battle of Dug Gap (1954)

On May 8, 1864, Geary's division of the Union 20th Corps reached Babb's farm and shelled Dug Gap before its brigades charged the steep ridge; the assault failed, but it helped mask McPherson's flanking move toward Snake Creek Gap.
