The Story

Dug Gap, a cleft cut through Rocky Face Ridge on the old Dalton-LaFayette road, was twice contested in 1864; on May 8 Geary's 20th Corps brigades scaled the western face but were repulsed by Arkansans and Kentucky cavalry.
