The Story

Dedicated in 1912 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, this is reputedly the nation's only statue of Gen. Joseph E. Johnston, who took command of the Army of Tennessee at Dalton in late 1863 and led the 1864 retreat toward Atlanta.
