The Tour
Founded in 1883 and set on 620 acres in the high country of Cherokee County, Reinhardt University pairs a Methodist liberal-arts campus with two of the region's cultural anchors: Georgia's official frontier-and-Southeastern-Indian interpretive center and a state-of-the-art concert hall. This walk links the signature administration building, the chapel, the museum, the arts centers, and the library.
Reinhardt University Campus Tour is a self-guided walking tour of Waleska, built around its campus side.
The walk covers 6 stops over about 0.6 miles and roughly 55 minutes, entirely at your own pace. Each stop's story unlocks on your phone the moment you arrive — GPS-triggered, hands-free, no guide and no tour group to keep up with.
What you'll see
Reinhardt's campus sits in the high foothills of Cherokee County, and this walk shows how a small Methodist school turned into a cultural stop for the whole region. You'll see the Burgess Administration Building, the brick building from 1951 that has served as the campus's front door ever since. Nearby is Blanche Hagan Chapel, a white-steepled chapel shared by students and the Waleska United Methodist congregation.
The highlight for most visitors is the Funk Heritage Center. It is Georgia's official Frontier and Southeastern Indian Interpretive Center, with galleries of Native American art and artifacts, a history museum, a large collection of antique hand tools, and a recreated Appalachian settlement. Across campus, the arts buildings include the Falany Performing Arts Center, a concert hall with adjustable acoustics and a year-round season of bluegrass, jazz, classical and tribute shows, a visual arts center with studios and galleries, and the campus library.
The route is about 0.6 miles through a hilly, tree-shaded campus. Allow extra time if you plan to tour the museum, which is closed Sundays and Mondays and charges admission. Spring and fall are the prettiest seasons. The Georgia Roam app tells each stop's story as you arrive.
