The Story
The Cobb County Youth Museum, later known simply as The Youth Museum, is an educational institution in Marietta set in a wooded setting adjacent to the Cheatham Hill section of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. It was organized in 1964 by the Junior Welfare League as a resource center to enrich the educational, cultural, and recreational lives of area young people, and initially circulated portable "suitcase" exhibits to local schools. The museum's permanent building, exhibits, and grounds officially opened as a learning center in April 1970. It continues to offer hands-on programming for children just west of the Marietta Square.
