Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park (Museum)

Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park is a 1,300-acre park on Lake Blackshear west of Cordele, established December 4, 1946, as a living memorial to United States veterans. Its centerpiece for history-minded visitors is a military museum whose collection spans conflicts from the Revolutionary War through the Gulf War, displaying uniforms, weapons, medals, armored vehicles, and aircraft. Signature outdoor exhibits include a Boeing B-29 Superfortress and other retired military hardware positioned around the grounds. Beyond the museum the park offers a lodge, cabins, campground, marina, and golf, and it serves as a terminus for the SAM Shortline excursion train that runs between Cordele and Plains.
