The Story
The Dalton Gallery is the teaching art gallery of Agnes Scott College, housed in the Charles A. Dana Fine Arts Building in Decatur and opened on October 24, 1965. It is named for benefactors Harry L. Dalton and his wife Mary Keesler Dalton, a member of the college's class of 1925. As a teaching gallery it mounts changing exhibitions of contemporary and historical art meant to enrich campus intellectual life and connect with the social and cultural questions of the day. Open to the public without charge, the gallery serves students and the wider Decatur community and participates in regional arts events such as Atlanta Art Week.
