Since Georgia's 2008 film tax credit, metro Atlanta has become the 'Hollywood of the South' — home to Marvel blockbusters, Stranger Things, and Tyler Perry's empire. This south-to-north drive strings together the region's biggest studios. IMPORTANT: nearly all of these are active, gated production lots with no public access — this is a 'see the gates and the scale from the road' tour, not a backstage pass. The one exception is the Town at Trilith, a genuinely walkable public district, so plan to stretch your legs there.
Studios of the Hollywood of the South is a self-guided driving tour of Atlanta, built around its film-and-TV side. It's one of 37 Georgia Roam tours in Atlanta — each a different route through the city, on your own schedule.
The walk covers 9 stops over about 62.0 miles and roughly 3 hours 30 min, entirely at your own pace. Each stop's story unlocks on your phone the moment you arrive — GPS-triggered, hands-free, no guide and no tour group to keep up with.
