The Tour

Tech Tower, Historic Grant Field, and the heart of the Yellow Jackets. A self-guided Georgia Roam campus tour.

Georgia Tech Campus Tour is a self-guided walking tour of Atlanta, built around its campus side. It's one of 37 Georgia Roam tours in Atlanta — each a different route through the city, on your own schedule.

The walk covers 7 stops over about 1.9 miles and roughly 2 hours 6 min, entirely at your own pace. Each stop's story unlocks on your phone the moment you arrive — GPS-triggered, hands-free, no guide and no tour group to keep up with.

What you'll see

This walk covers the core of Georgia Tech, where the school's oldest landmarks stand near some of its newest buildings. Tech Tower, the red-brick Victorian hall that opened with the school in 1888, is the best known, and students have been trying to steal the 'T' from its lit TECH sign for decades. Close by is the stadium, which has hosted Yellow Jackets football since 1913 and sits in view of the Midtown skyline.

Other landmarks show the campus the 1996 Olympics helped shape. The stainless-steel Kessler Campanile and its fountain were built as Tech hosted the Olympic Village, and today they're a popular spot for graduation photos. Tech Green is the big lawn at the center of student life, next to the glass-walled Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons.

The tour is on foot, about 1.9 miles in all, and takes around two hours at an easy pace. The campus is busiest on weekdays during the semester. Weekends are calmer, except on football Saturdays in the fall, when the streets around the stadium fill up hours before kickoff. The Georgia Roam app tells each landmark's story as you reach it.
